Nicole Kidman opens up about daughter’s reaction to watching her “get stoned” in ‘Eyes Wide Shut’

Kidman's daughter praised her mother's performance

Nicole Kidman has opened up about her daughter’s reaction to watching her “get stoned” in the film, Eyes Wide Shut.

Kidman starred in the Stanley Kubrick-directed film alongside her ex-husband Tom Cruise in 1999.

Speaking to The LA Times about making the film, Kidman revealed that one of her daughters, Sunday, recently watched some scenes from the film while attending an event with her.

“At the AFI [Life Achievement Award] tribute, they saw the scene where I get stoned,” Kidman explained. “They showed that and I was like, ‘Ooooh. Golly. OK.’ I sat next to my daughter, Sunday, watching that.”

Kidman continued: “She said, ‘Mom, that was good.’ And then they showed that scene in Birth,” Kidman went on, noting another film from 2004 that she appeared in. “And she said, ‘That was really good.’ And I watched that scene and thought, ‘Wow. That was really good.’ And I never do that.”

Kidman has two daughters, Sunday and Faith, with husband Keith Urban. She also has two children, Bella and Connor, with Cruise.

Back in June, Kidman updated fans about the third season of Big Little Lies.

Kidman confirmed in November that a third season was in the works. Based on the novel by Liane Moriarty, Big Little Lies was originally billed as a mini-series but its success led to more episodes being commissioned.

During an interview for Vanity Fair alongside co-star Reece Witherspoon, they briefly touched on what could come next for the show, with Witherspoon admitting that Kidman “has already said too much” about what’s in store.

“I got excited,” Kidman admitted about letting some Big Little Lies Season 3 news slip out prematurely. “We need to shut up. There’s a whole thing about how you should never talk about something until you’ve done it because if you talk about doing it then it’s the dopamine hit of doing it and you feel like you’ve done it. It’s a scientific study.

“We’re moving fast and furious. Liane [Moriarty] is delivering the book. We’re in good shape,” she continued.

The first season of Big Little Lies won eight Primetime Emmy Awards from 16 total nominations, including Outstanding Limited Series and a directing award.

Kidman can currently be seen in A Family Affair on Netflix.
