Lady Gaga spotted in Paris amid speculation that she’s performing at Olympics opening ceremony

The Paris Olympic Games kick off later this week

Lady Gaga has been spotted in Paris, France ahead of this week’s Olympic Games’ opening ceremony, where she’s been rumoured to perform – find out more below.

Yesterday (July 22), the pop star was spotted waving and blowing kisses to fans in Paris, further fuelling speculation that Gaga will be performing at the opening ceremony later this week (July 26).

One post on X also claims that Gaga arrived at her hotel “after rehearsals” for the opening ceremony.

Per Uproxx, the rumours first began swirling on July 11, when social media noticed that Thomas Jolly, the artistic director of the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2024 Summer Games, recently followed Gaga on Instagram.

To further stoke the flames, the official Olympics account teased someone disguised in a black hood and chrome accessories with the Olympic flag draped around their shoulders to promote the opening ceremony.

To date, there has been no official confirmation of Lady Gaga’s involvement in the Paris Olympics this year.

This isn’t the first time the singer has been linked to the Olympic Games. In 2021, leaked documents reportedly revealed that Lady Gaga was set to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, which was delayed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In May, Gaga shared about the impetus of her forthcoming seventh album: “Something I’m definitely exploring right now is sort of the art of intensity,” she offered. “I think that the art of intensity actually began during this [‘Chromatica’] tour. But I’m not done with it yet.”

While a title and release date for the album has yet to be confirmed, Gaga will be seen next in October’s Joker: Folie à Deux – she’ll play Harley Quinn to Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker in the much-anticipated “jukebox musical” sequel to the 2019 hit film.

Meanwhile, Gaga fans were left furious after the Emmy nominations were released last week (July 17) without any nod to her recent concert film Gaga Chromatica Ball.

On social media, fans have been vocal about the film missing out, with one fan calling it “criminal’ while a second said she’d been “snubbed again”. Another said of the Emmys, “it’s their loss”.
