‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ fans are arguing over a new character design

New artwork for the character Gojo Santoru has been shared by the manga's creator, and fans are split

Fans of the beloved manga and anime Jujutsu Kaisen are clashing over a new design for the character Gojo Satoru – check out the reactions below.

Jujutsu Kaisen began as a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Gege Akutami, and is set in a world where negative emotions can manifest as Curses – a race of demonic entities bent on harming humanity.

As well as a manga, Jujutsu Kaisen has gone on to inspire movies, TV shows, video games and a stage play, with two seasons of the hit anime adaptation so far having been made by MAPPA.

And now, to celebrate the results of the fourth ‘Jujutsu Kaisen Popularity Poll’, a new artistic design for Gojo Satoru, the mentor of the manga’s lead character Yuji Itadori, has been shared by Akutami. See it below:

However, other fans are much less complimentary about the new design. “So killing gojo like three times in the manga wasn’t enough gege had to do it again here,” wrote one person.

In other Jujutsu Kaisen news, the tune from the anime’s commercial bumps was recently sampled by Megan Thee Stallion on her song ‘Otaku Hot Girl’.

The song also kicks off with the English voice actor for the series protagonist Yuji Itadori, Adam McArthur, saying: “I like a tall woman with a nice big ass (Haha) / Just sayin’ / Like Grammy winner, Megan Thee Stallion.”

Megan said she had to “jump through eight million hoops” to appease MAPPA.

“So, I sent them the song and they told me, ‘OK, you gotta change some words’,” she explained. “So, I said, ‘OK, cool’ [and] I changed some words. Then they said, ‘OK, if you shoot a video to this song, you cannot cosplay any of the characters in the show,’ and I said, ‘OK, cool! I ain’t gon’ do it. I’m a follow the rules.’ I want the song real bad.”

In celebration of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime’s second season, Fortnite launched a crossover event, with the 2023 limited-time collab featuring a number of skins and a dedicated quest.

The skins made another brief return as part of Winterfest 2023 and last month, they were added to the Fortnite store.
